Welcome to the Covid-19 Guidance for Event Recovery

The purpose of these guidelines, set out by the Association of Event Organisers (AEO), Association of Event Venues (AEV), Events Supplier and Services Association (ESSA) and its stakeholders, is to provide a framework of support and assessments to ensure a safe return to live events.

All work has been approved by UK government.

The guidance sets out to achieve common standards of health, safety and operational planning, management and on-site conduct for the events industry.

While we work to common standards it is also important to note that risk assessments will be unique to the size, scale and type of event and the “All Secure Standard” should be used as open source guidance to translate to the relevant areas of your business, understanding that not all measures may be possible, or apply.

Now recognised as the industry’s best practice document, this open source guidance will be continually reviewed by working industry professionals who represent the best advice currently available, and who themselves have to work within the guidelines in their own professional capacities.

The All Secure Standard has been set up to provide a best-practice guide to industry professionals responsible for organising and delivering organised industry events, trade shows and exhibitions of all sizes, in all locations.

The Event Risk Assessment is based on identifying the contact points where, when and how transmission at the event is most likely to occur and assigning the controls best able to reduce the risk of transmission.

In order to assist event organisers in the completion of this essential assessment there are 2 template examples below shared by the industry. These are a starting point but it will be up to individual organisers to tailor their risk assessment to their individual event and the prevailing risk level.


Template 1 - Basic Risk Assessment

 An easy to follow layout which covers the fundamental considerations and can cover multiple risk scenarios – suitable for smaller events with fewer special considerations.

 AEV eGuide Covid-19 Appendix

 This dynamic guidance has been produced to expand upon the All Secure Standards document that has been published within the Visitor Economy Tourism Guidance and is specifically for events taking place in exhibition and conference centres.

The guidance is aimed to assist venues, organisers and contractors to plan and prepare for events in the near future in response to COVID-19 and should be read in conjunction with the All Secure Standard document.
