In The Rough 2017, the annual industry golf day organised by the Event Supplier and Services Association (ESSA), will be taking place on July 6th 2017 at The Belfry in Warwickshire, and the association has announced that to celebrate its tenth anniversary year, it has secured the historic Brabazon course for the competition.
Teams and players from across the event industry will be pitting their golfing skills to the test against one another for the coveted ESSA Cup, not to mention the Team Salver, the ESSA Stakeholder Salver, and several individual player awards.
Andrew Harrison, ESSA director, commented, "In The Rough has become the highlight of the summer for us, and we're delighted that it has gone from strength to strength. To celebrate our tenth anniversary, this year our teams will be pitted not only against each other, but against one of the world's most famous and tricky courses - the Brabazon."
"Places invariably get snapped up quickly," continued Harrison, "so I'd recommend contestants contact Simon Perry at ESSA, as soon as possible, to book their teams in."
The Brabazon first opened for play forty years ago, with a challenge match featuring golfing legends Seve Ballesteros and Tony Jacklin, and has never looked back. This former potato field has now played host to more Ryder Cup competitions than any other course in the world, and is famous for its majestic fairways, fast greens and perilous bunkers.
