About Us

Skyline Whitespace is a leading name in exhibition design and build, delivering award-winning custom and modular stands to clients across the UK and beyond. Known for our build quality, creativity, and reliable delivery, we’re growing and we’re looking for hands-on, detail-driven Exhibition Stand Builders to join our team. If you thrive in a fast-paced, physical environment and enjoy being part of bringing high-profile events to life, we’d love to hear from you.

The Role

As an Exhibition Stand Builder, you’ll be part of a close-knit operations team building and dismantling stands at events and venues across the UK (and sometimes overseas). Working under the guidance of our Onsite Build Managers and Operation Managers, you’ll help deliver each project on time, on spec, and to the high standards we’re known for.

You’ll also support job prep and kit loading from our SW London warehouse, handle tools and materials safely, and ensure all finishes are clean, sharp, and ready for client handover. This is a physical, practical role ideal for someone who’s worked in exhibitions, events, set building, or fit-out and enjoys working with their hands as part of a team.

Key Responsibilities

Onsite Build & Breakdown

  • Build and dismantle modular exhibition stands, furniture, flooring, graphics, and lighting
  • Follow build plans and supervisor instructions precisely
  • Carry out final finish tasks (e.g. vacuuming, fabric steaming, cable tidying, trims)
  • Use hand and power tools safely and efficiently
  • Pack and protect materials carefully during breakdown
  • Maintain a clean, safe and professional work area at all times

Warehouse & Job Prep

  • Help pick and pack equipment and tools ahead of shows
  • Load and unload vans with care and accuracy
  • Maintain tidy and organised warehouse and prep areas
  • Report any missing, damaged, or faulty equipment

Furniture Handling

  • Prepare, check, and protect furniture for rental
  • Clean and return furniture post-show, flagging any damage
  • Ensure items are stored correctly and ready for the next event

AV Support (as needed)

  • Assist with basic AV tasks such as monitor mounting or cable routing
  • Safely handle AV kit under direction from AV technicians

Professional Conduct

  • Represent the Skyline Whitespace brand professionally at all times
  • Follow all instructions promptly and ask questions if unsure
  • Respect timelines, team members, and clients onsite
  • Look after tools and report issues or safety concerns immediately

Experience & Requirements

Essential

  • Previous build or install experience in exhibitions, live events, shopfitting, or similar
  • Ability to read and follow build instructions or plans
  • Competent with basic hand and power tools
  • Physically fit and comfortable with manual work (lifting, carrying, etc.)
  • Team player with strong timekeeping and communication
  • Calm, practical, and focused under pressure
  • Good spoken and written English
  • Full right to work in the UK
  • Full UK driving licence (essential due to travel requirements)

Desirable

  • Forklift, IPAF, or other H&S/site tickets
  • Familiarity with modular systems like Aluvision, Octanorm, Skyline, or beMatrix

Key Competencies

  • Teamwork: Works well within a team on site and in the warehouse
  • Attention to Detail: Delivers sharp, clean, professional builds
  • Communication: Understands and follows instructions; asks for clarification when needed
  • Problem Solving: Spots and resolves practical build issues early
  • Reliability: Punctual, prepared, and consistent on every project
  • Health & Safety Awareness: Understands and follows safety procedures and PPE standards

Working Conditions

Physical Demands

  • Frequent lifting (up to 25kg), bending, kneeling, and standing for long periods
  • Use of hand and power tools in fast-paced environments

Environment

  • Exhibition halls, event venues, indoor and outdoor locations
  • Exposure to varying weather, dust, noise, and venue traffic

Hours

  • Core hours 08:30–17:00, but flexibility required
  • Early starts, late finishes, weekends, and extended shifts may be necessary during busy periods
  • Overtime available around peak build times and deadlines

Safety Gear

  • PPE must be worn at all times (provided by the company)
  • Full compliance with all venue and company safety policies
