Salary: Part time up to £32K. Full Time Equivalent: £40K
Pension: 4% of basic salary to a stakeholder scheme
Holidays: FTE 25 days per year holidays plus pro rata Bank Holidays. Part time equivalent, up to 29 hours 20 days.
Hours: Up to 29 hours (minimum 22 for right candidate) per week split over minimum of 3 days.
Other: Childcare vouchers, flexible working and cycle to work scheme

Role Overview
ESSA is seeking a hands-on Marketing Manager to lead, create and deliver engaging, targeted, and measurable marketing, communications, and PR activities to support our next phase of development.
This is a permanent, part time role (29 hours). For the right candidate, this role offers location flexibility with remote, hybrid or office solutions. All candidates must reside in the UK.

Membership marketing
Industry promotion and PR
Key Responsibilities
Strategy and Planning
Continue to develop and implement a marketing, communications, and PR plan aligned with ESSA’s strategic goals.
Build campaign calendars supporting membership growth, event promotion, and sector influence.
Digital Content Marketing
Manage and develop content for ESSA’s website (public and member areas), association app, and social media channels (LinkedIn, YouTube, Instagram).
Create compelling email campaigns to nurture prospective members, engage current members, and re-engage lapsed members.
Produce engaging content for hard copy materials, industry press, and newsletters.
Membership Marketing
Drive member recruitment and retention campaigns, demonstrating the value of ESSA membership.
Support onboarding and promotion of ESSA products and services (e.g., ESSA Accredited, ESSA Bond, Events, Working Groups).
Tailor messaging for different audience segments: current members, prospective members, lapsed members, event organisers, venues, end users, government, sister associations, and sector media.
Sales Marketing and Lead Generation
Identify and execute lead generation opportunities to support membership sales and event attendance.
Collaborate with the ESSA team to convert leads into members through strategic follow-up and nurturing.
Industry Promotion and PR
Develop and maintain strong relationships with sector media to secure regular coverage, including 3–4 articles/opinion pieces per year.
Support ESSA’s representation with government and sister associations through clear, authoritative, and engaging communication.
Coordinate PR campaigns to enhance ESSA’s leadership profile within the sector.
Event Marketing
Create and deliver marketing campaigns for ESSA’s flagship events (Leadership Summit, Summer Event, Conference Dinner & Awards).
What We’re Looking For
Proven experience in marketing, communications, and PR – An advantage within the events, membership, or association sectors.
Hands-on experience managing multi-channel content, including website CMS, email platforms, social media, and printed materials.
Strong copywriting and content creation skills with an understanding of audience segmentation.
Knowledge of lead generation, sales marketing, and membership growth strategies.
Experience with event marketing, including campaign planning, promotion, and onsite support.
Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines while maintaining quality and alignment with brand values.
An understanding of, or interest in, the events sector.
A collaborative and proactive approach, capable of working autonomously while aligning with ESSA’s goals.
