Following the 2026 ESSA Strategy Day and Board Meeting, it has been agreed that we will move to a new working group model.
This approach is designed to maintain focus, deliver consistent outputs, and clearly demonstrate value for members’ time. Ultimately, we are moving towards a structure that is more outcome-driven, engaging, and efficient.
As part of this shift, working groups will now be known as Project Groups to reflect this new, outcome-driven approach. As part of this shift, working groups will now be known as Project Groups to reflect this new, outcome-driven approach.
What the new model looks like
We are shifting to project-focused, timebound working groups:
- Each working group will be formed around a specific project with clear deliverables
- Groups will run for a defined period (typically 2–6 months)
- Once the project is complete, the group will be formally stood down
- Groups can be reactivated or reformed when new relevant projects arise
- The wider community will be maintained via a dedicated WhatsApp group within the ESSA community
