As part of your ESSA membership agreement and commitment, you are asked each year to provide a copy of your insurance. In the past we have carried out a basic check to confirm that your Public Liability limit is a minimum level of £2,000,000. This was increased in 2023 to keep in line with most venues and organisers seeking a minimum of £5,000,000 and in some circumstances, more recently, £10,000,000. Therefore we set a new minimum requirement of £5,000,000.
Having insurance checked heightens the value and credibility of ESSA Members and strengthens the message, ‘Use an ESSA Member’. To this end, future insurance checks will also include a review of validity in terms of business description, Public Liability Limit, Employers Liability Limit and as many of our members work abroad, Territorial Coverage. We want to continue to be able to say an ESSA Member protects themselves but through suitable insurance, also protects others working in the halls with valid third party insurance.
