The chair of the Event Supplier and Services Association (ESSA), Chris Criscione, has taken up the position of chair of the Events Industry Alliance (EIA) as part of the rotation of the position through the three industry associations, ESSA, the Association of Event Organisers (AEO) and the Association of Event Venues (AEV).

There is a need for more MPs to support the All Party Parliamentary Group on Events so that the voice of the industry can be heard in Parliament. This group is currently chaired by James Heappey MP who has drafted the wording below with a request that you consider sending it to your local MP. Driving rain and heavy traffic did nothing to dissuade 170 delegates from arriving at Ricoh Arena for the Event Supplier and Services Association (ESSA) 10th Anniversary Conference and Snow Ball on 7th December, for a packed programme of speakers and panels.That was followed by the spectacular Snow Ball and ESSA Anniversary Awards where over 300 guests saw Samantha Fenlon of Freeman win the Young Person Award, Aztec Event Services won Member Company Award, and the Outstanding Contribution to the Industry Award was won by Chris Criscione, managing director of Equinox Design.

The AEV/AEO/ESSA Sustainability Working Group met for the second time this year on Thursday October 19th at the NEC, convening at Severn Trent’s anaerobic digestion plant at Coleshill, where all NEC Group venues send their food waste.
